We Panamanians like to say that our country is âthe worldâs bridge and the universeâs heartâ since we are between North and South America, and between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Since pre-colombian times, Panama has been a place where cultures meet, where goods area traded, and where people from different backgrounds and countries have found a home and have contributed to the making of Panama. This is a small country, with barely a century of existence since its independence but we have forged ahead and difficult times have only made us more determined to achieve our goals of a better future for all its inhabitants. Further, due to its privileged geographical position, Panama is blessed with an abundance of rivers, tropical forests, and its forests, rivers and seas hold many life forms. The many islands which protect our coasts serve as refuges for many endangered species.

I SAY: I learned to focus and to be grateful on the rewards of experiencing difficulties rather than dwell on the pain.
